Pulls are prints made by inking the engraving and transferring the ink onto paper. Another way to transfer the design is by using lampblack, a black powder, and masking tape. This is the method I use most because the tape conforms to the convex and concave contours of the gun better than paper. A third method is called a "smoke" and is done with a smoking candle and tape. A smoke produces a reverse or negative image.
